Hi there, Today i will show the simplest and ultimate way of adding none available local currency format in Microsoft Excel. This actually a Windows tip in general, for some countries like Tanzania we don’t have a currency symbol like $ which are special characters, so we have for example TShs 800.00.
You may ask your self how can you have column in Excel which display numbers formatted in local currency like shown below?,
how to achieve that is what i am going to tip you, and at the end there is a video for you to watch the steps i followed when setting up currency format for Tanzanian Shillings, but it can be done for any other formats as well, its just a matter of preference.
In your excel sheet highlight the column that you want to format and put it to the currency format as shown below:
Open Windows Control Panel and click on the Regions option, on the dialog that appears click on Additional Settings button:
On the Additional Settings Dialog that appears click on the Currency Tab and Edit the Currency Symbol as shown below:
After that Click Apply and then Ok buttons on both dialogs. Now you will see your sheets column in displayed with the new currency format. Watch this video for more visual demo.
I hope this tip will help someone, keep following this blog for tips like this.,
